The Technology Battle Continues

So in 2 of my 3 classrooms projectors have been installed. It's really exciting, we've been using them a lot, but I'm realizing how much more time and effort it takes to bring technology into the classroom. I've spent hours looking at videos, commercials, and film clips online and then to struggle with what aspects of the curriclum I can bring them in for, how we're going to use it, and what angle we're going to talk about it from. Like we've talked about in class, I want to use technology to enhance students' learning, not just to use it. And enhancement of learning through technology takes time. I'm starting small, but I also want to utilitize this awesome tool I've been given to it's utmost capacity.

Hi Becky,
Sounds like information overload! Tame the monster - don't spend more than half an hour per day looking for material. It's just a tool to bring another dimension to learning. Think of 2-3 questions to get the kids thinking with regard to the objective(s). The kids will probably think of a million other things you haven't. Depending on the task, the computer can act as a springboard into more activities. Remember, you can only eat an elephant bite-by-bite!
